Standardised Health Assessments

Standardised occupational health assessments relate to all pre-placement and periodic screening assessments in which standardised questionnaires, examinations and tests (if required) are undertaken to identify employee health risks.

These assessments can occur:

  • Before employment, e.g. pre-employment medical assessments
  • Before placement into a new work environment or new role, e.g. pre-travel (overseas placement) assessments and UK Offshore Operators Association (UKOOA) medicals
  • Before placement into safety critical roles e.g. Rail Safety Medicals, Commercial Driver’s Medicals, Mine Rescue Medicals
  • During employment – to identify specific health risks e.g. health surveillance for those potentially exposed to workplace hazards, executive health checks to identify general health, and lifestyle risks in the workforce.
  • Post-employment – to ascertain the health status of an employee on exiting the workplace.
