The Mine Worker's Health Surveillance is a service relevant to mining industry employers, being a legislative requirement for mining industry employers to establish and maintain a health surveillance system for employees, as required under the Mines Safety and Inspection Act 1994 (WA).

The employer is obliged under the Act to send the worker for a Mine Worker's Surveillance within 3 months of commencement of employment.

Often than not, workers are sent in for a Mine Worker's Health Surveillance (before they are actually employed) due to mine site requirements.  In this regard, it is critical that OccuMED is notified of the worker's employment within 2 weeks of the Mine Worker's Health Surveillance test.  Without confirmation of employment, OccuMED cannot legally submit the data and documentation to complete the Mine Worker's Health Surveillance.

To facilitate this process, please ensure that the Notification of Employment letter provided by OccuMED is completed in full and returned to OccuMED in the two week timeframe.
