Health Surveillance involves the periodic examination of workers to protect their health and prevent occupationally related disease where exposure to hazardous agents is likely. Programs are established in compliance with legislation and each service is tailored to the requirements of the employer.
These requirements may include the formulation, implementation and documentation of health surveillance programs as well as health surveillance related examinations and investigations e.g. pathology tests for lead and organophosphates levels, audiometric tests, spirometry, chest X-rays.
Mine Worker's Health Surveillance is a specific example of a Health Surveillance Assessment. Refer to Allied Services for more details on Mine Worker's Health Surveillance.
