A Fitness for Work Assessment offers an in-depth, independent medical evaluation of the worker’s ability to carry out the inherent requirements of the job in a safe and effective manner, whether the worker is about to be or is already employed by the organisation
As part of the Fitness for Work Assessment, recommendations for interventions or restrictions may be made to enable the person to carry out their job role safely and effectively; minimising the risk to themselves and others, and to ensure that the job does not aggravate any pre-existing disease or injury.
OccuMED Service Levels
OccuMED understands the importance of short waiting periods for Fitness for Work Assessments and the timely turnaround of the medical report to ensure that the worker is not at risk, and the characteristics of their injury/disease do not pose a risk to their co-workers or the general public.
To assist OccuMED's specialist Occupational Physicians in their assessment and timely report, the OccuMED Referral Form is required to be fully completed and returned to OccuMED before the scheduled appointment. Information relating to job requirements, work environment, issues of concern and any other relevant matter should be included in the completed OccuMED Referral Form.
